Real Living's studios

Ok, here's some good news: I told you it would be a week full of desing and so it was. On Sunday  I attended a meeting that joined design and food and on Wednesday I took part to another one, more focused on interior design. The latest was organized by "Real Living", the Australian interior design magazine I have already mentioned, the one that I love!

They both were very interesting, and they gave me a chance to brush up a bit of basics and to collect some new ideas about furniture.

I’ll try to post everything I learnt in this blog, to give you several original sparks and some little tricks about design in order to refurbish your houses. To make it possible, I would like to add a new column and I'm already working on it, but in the meantime I’m collecting some ideas, so be patient please :)

So, talking about the good news: during the last meeting I dusted off my qualities as "architect" and it apparently gave good results, at the end of the meeting we were asked to create a mood-board, aka a sort of table of inspiration, made also of images but not necessarily, to represent the style and the atmosphere we wanted to evoke. Well, with half-hour and a lot of enthusiasm (because in this cases, I feel the boldness and the curiosity of a seven year old girl ☺) I made up my mood-board. Then Deborah Bibby - editor in chief of the magazine -and Erin Michael - Interior designer-  choose the best two, and guess what?!?

Well yeah one of them was mine! :)))) ... Great embarrassment, but also great satisfaction for me, given their expertise and professionalism and the fact that I admire their work so much!

It felt a little bit like getting an excellent grade in a university exam, with the addition that here I am in a foreign land, and it came as a big surprise!

It is easy to embarrass me, I’m not a PR person,but getting congratulations and rewards for my ideas or my work is a pleasure: it makes me feel that I'm going in the right direction and that all my good intentions will give me great satisfaction.

I leave you with the words of the photographer who came close to me while I was cutting and pasting "it's always a pleasure having someone who thinks out side the box" , hoping it will be inspiration for everyone, don’t limit yourself to standard, look at things from a new perspective, make the difference!

Ok…ecco le buone notizie: vi ho detto che sarebbe stata una settimana all’insegna del desing per me e così è stato, domenica meeting che univa, design e cibo e mercoledi un incontro un po’ più da vicino organizzato da Real Living la rivista d’interior design di cui vi ho già parlato e che mi piace un sacco!!!

Entrambi molto interessanti, mi hanno dato la possibilità di rispolverare un po’ di nozioni di base e aggiungere un po’ d’idee in fatto di arredamento.

Piano piano cercherò di “rigiravi” il tutto, darvi buone idee e piccoli aiuti in fatto di progettazione e rinnovo delle vostre casette…vorrei aggiungere una nuova rubrica…ci sto lavorando su, nel frattempo raccolgo le idee, siate pazienti.

Allora…arriviamo alla bella notizia, durante l’ultimo incontro ho rispolverato un po’ le mie doti di “ architetto” e a quanto pare hanno dato buoni risultati…alla fine dell’incontro c’è stato chiesto di raccogliere le nostre idee e creare un mood-board…una sorta di tavola d’ispirazione, fatta d’immagini e non, che rappresentino lo stile che volevamo ricreare, l’atmosfera…bè con una mezz’ora a disposizione e tanto entusiasmo (perché in certi momenti, io ritrovo l’audacia e la curiosità di una bambina di sette anni:))…bè ho tirato fuori la mia mood-board e alla fine Deborah Bibby, direttore del giornale e Erin Michael, Interior designer hanno fatto una selezione scegliendone due…e indovinate???

Bè si uno dei due era mio!!!:))))…grande imbarazzo, ma anche grande soddisfazione, vista la loro competenza, professionalità e quanto ammiri i loro lavori.

Mi sono sentita un po’ come ai tempi dell’università aspettando l’esito dell’esame…:) con l’aggiunta che qui sono in terra straniera e nulla era stato previsto.

Ci vuole un attimo per mettermi in imbarazzo, non sono "tipa" adatta alle pubbliche relazioni, ma ricevere complimenti e gratificazioni per idee o lavori fa un sacco piacere…come dire sto lavorando nella direzione giusta e tutti i miei buoni propositi e voglia di fare mi daranno grandi soddisfazioni sono sicura.
